In close cooperation with WBCSD, and in the framework of the international awareness of the Sustainable Development issues, SCCI took the initiative to establish the UAE-BCSD to further enforce the drive to a more sustainable society and economy.

UAE-BCSD will be a local organization that fosters and supports the business competitiveness at the international markets and shapes the Sustainable Developments of UAE/Sharjah economy and society.
The main goals of UAE-BCSD is to:

  • Provide best leadership practices to adapt change strategies that result in Sustainable Development and growth.
  • Support innovation and growth in business in the UAE through Sustainable Development issues.

The Middle East & North Africa Travel Association (MENATA) was launched in January 2011 with the aim of raising the profile of the Arab tourism industry.

MENATA sees its role as providing a catalyst and platform for travel industry representatives with a shared interest in the region to work together more closely. MENATA also seeks to play a role in fostering much greater understanding of the Middle East & North Africa, its peoples and cultures.

Stretching 6,500kms from the Atlantic coast to the Indian Ocean, the MENATA region covers 18 Arab countries and territories together with Cyprus, Iran and Turkey.

Membership of MENATA is open to all sectors of the travel industry including tourist boards, airlines, hotels, tour operators, travel agents, destination management companies, car rental suppliers and tourist attractions.

Wild Asia is a social enterprise, operating since 1998 as a legal organisation aiming to inspire and create positive social and environmental change. Unlike charities, we do not depend on donations but derive our income from services we provide. Wild Asia has worked exclusively in Asia and has built up a wide experience base in dealing with the complexities and challenges of promoting sustainability in this part of the world.

We have applied our knowledge to find solutions in industries that have an impact on natural areas: namely, forestry, tourism, and agriculture sectors. The core programmes that Wild Asia currently runs include work in responsible tourism, responsible agriculture, and biodiversity initiatives.

The International Centre for Responsible Tourism is an international network of industry professionals, academics and other committed to Responsible Tourism. EDA is a non-profit voluntary federal organization which is accredited by UNEP as an International Environmental organization.
EDA’s mission is to conserve, protect and restore the U.A.E’s marine resources by empathizing and promoting the marine environment and environmental diving.

Emirates Diving Association (EDA) was established by Federal Decree No. (23) Under Article No. (21) on 23/02/1995 and chose Dubai as its base.

The Decree stipulates the following responsibilities for EDA:
•  Legistlate all diving activities in the U.A.E
•  Ensure environmentally respectful diving practices in all EDA members.
•  Promote and support the diving industry within the U.A.E by coordinating the     efforts of the diving community.
•  Promote diving safety in the commercial and recreational diving fields through standardization of practices.
•  Promote and preserve historical aspects of diving within the gulf region and enhance environmental education to diving and non-diving communities through EDA activities & projects.

The Association of Travel and Tourist Agents in Lebanon (ATTAL) was established in Beirut, Lebanon on June 25, 1949.  The General Assembly convenes once per year to ratify reports of the president, Secretary General and treasurer, once every other year for electoral purposes.  A four year term board determines its policy. Several technical committees study and prepare resolutions.  It speaks and acts for travel agents on the Lebanese, Arab, regional and international stages.(75) The main objectives include industry developing, cooperation among members, defending their rights, improving professional standards, solve disagreements, establish legislations, organize conventions and training courses, represent Lebanon in regional & international travel-tourism organizations.

Initially Abu Dhabi Travel & Tourism Agencies Committee was formed in the year 2000 following a decree issued by H.E. Chairman of Civil Aviation Department

In order to facilitate the work of the Committee, it was made a part of Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ADCCI) in the year 2002.

In 2009 ATTAC became fully licensed through Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development and Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce under new name Travel & Tourism Agencies Council (ATTAC). 

ATTAC membership includes more than 250 travel and tourism agencies across Abu Dhabi and Al Ain

ATTAC, since its establishment, has always guided and assisted tour operators and travel agents in enhancing their professional capabilities and to provide improved travel services to the public. It submits recommendations to concerned authorities from time to time in order to further enhance the development of the travel trade in line with international forms and practices

The National Council of Tourism & Antiquities “NCTA” was established in 2008 to confirm the importance of tourism in the United Arab Emirates developing National economy as a whole, and to draw attention to the role it plays to enhance its social identity, while at the same time conserving the values and culture of the country and its ancestral heritage. The formation of NCTA as a solid Federal entity acts as an overall umbrella to streamline all activities and events related to tourism and antiquities within the country and abroad.  Its main function is to promote local identity and create a close link between the concept of “Tourism” and promotion of cultural heritage ie.  “Antiquities”.
